720 Dunk

Had to bring this outta the archives as still one of the sickest dunks I’ve seen, no less in a game:

This Week in Basketball

  • Andrei Kirilenko is making it clear that he will not come back to play for the Utah Jazz this season, stating that he will accept any option that will get him away from Utah.
  • Henry Abott, and many other experts in the world of basketball come together to discuss why players who excel in European basketball struggle in the NBA. With a specific case study of Sarunas Jasikevicius.
  • Keon Clark, one time Toronto Raptor, has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for driving on a suspended license (at the time of his arrest he was also operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and driving under the influence). It’s really sad that this happened, he used to be one of my favorite players back in the day, him and junkyard dog.
  • Seattle really, really want to keep the Sonics in town.
  • Garden of Shame; as the situation in New York gets worse and worse every day, Adrian Wojnarowski from Yahoo! Sports shares his thoughts in the situation.

Russia Upsets Spain in Eurobasket Finals

It was a very close game and with a 59-58 lead over Russia, Spain passed the ball to their leading scorer Pau Gasol in hopes of solidifying their lead. Unfortunately for Spain, Jon Robert Holden stripped the ball from Pau Gasol, took it up court and scored the game winning basket with two seconds remaining on the clock. Andrei Kirilenko led Russia with 17 points, and the underdogs won their first European basketball championship in 22 years.

Check out this video from youtube of the last few minutes of the game:
