Iverson on a Scoring Frenzy

Iverson has been my favourite player ever since I started liking basketball back in 2000, hence the name of the website Basketball “2K”. After watching the 1999-2000 playoffs where Iverson put up an astonishing performance night after night after night, and in the past few games memories of that time have been rekindled.
“A night after the Philadelphia 76ers had a disheartening loss, Allen Iverson made sure it wouldn’t happen again by playing one of the best games of his stellar career.” Source
Game 1
Saturday, December 18th, 2004. The Philadelphia 76ers played the Milwaukee Bucks and Allen Iverson put up 54 points, only 4 points off his career high 58 against Houston in an overtime game on January 15th, 2002.

“It was the seventh time in Iverson’s nine-year career that he had scored at least 50 points in a regular-season game, and he has done it three times in the playoffs.” Source
After blowing a 19 point fourth quarter lead against the Knicks Friday night, Iverson wasn’t willing to let that happen again. He didn’t even mind sitting out in the final minutes of the game instead of trying get his career high, instead he led the 76ers onto a 116-97 win.
“Honestly, and I can’t be any truer than this, all I wanted was for the Milwaukee Bucks to be down one point once there were all zeroes on the board,” said the five-time all-star; Allen Iverson.
Game 2
Monday, December 20th, 2004. The Philadelphia 76ers played the Utah Jazz and Allen Iverson put up 51 points in a losing effort. Iverson 46 minutes but fouled out with 4.5 seconds remaining in the game putting Mehmet Okur on the line. After Okur made both free throws the 76ers missed the game tying shot at the offensive end for a 103-101 loss.
“Iverson became only the seventh player in NBA history to score at least 50 points in consecutive games.” Source
Iverson scored with a variety of shots all over the court, hitting 3-pointers, wide open layups, difficult jumpshots, running floaters, reverse layups, he was almost unstoppable going 18-31 from the floor. With his huge effort for the second night in a row he becomes the only 76ers since Wilt Chamberlain back 1962 to score 50 points in two consecutive games.
