Daniels and Croshere

The Indiana Pacers on Wednesday acquired versatile guard Marquis Daniels from the Dallas Mavericks for veteran forward Austin Croshere, the only holdover from their 2000 NBA Finals team.
Daniels has three years and $19 million left on his contract but is just 25 years old.
Croshere is entering the last year of his contract, which made him attractive to the Mavericks. He can fill the role played by free agent forward Keith Van Horn and gives the team salary flexibility next summer.
An athletic slasher who can back up both guard spots, the 6-6 Daniels averaged career highs of 10.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists last season, his third in the NBA. But he has missed at least 20 games every season due to injury.

The 6-9 Croshere spent his entire nine-year career with the Pacers and was a starter when they reached the Finals six years ago. He averaged 8.2 points and 5.3 rebounds in 50 games last season, giving away minutes to Peja Stojakovic and rookie Danny Granger. #
I think the trade works out pretty well for both teams but I was still surprised that the Mavs decided to give up Daniels. :s
