The Zen Master is Back

Kobe Bryant and Phil Jackson

The Los Angeles Lakers announced this Tuesday that their new head coach will in fact be their old head coach who led them the team to 3 straight NBA titles between 2000 and 2002. With the announcement a lot of speculation has been answered as Phil Jackson who has 14 years of coaching experience, a 832-316 winning record, a.725 winning percentage in the regular season and a .717 winning percentage in the postseason (both being NBA league history bests) rejoins the Lakers. Phil Jackson also coached the legendary Chicago Bulls team that featured Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen in the 1990’s, winning 6 titles with the squad. Controversy none the less follows Phil Jackson being hired who has a rocky relationship with the Lakers superstar; Kobe Bryant. They have both verbally slammed each other and times, and Phil Jackson had pages of doing so in his book. None the less they both seem to be happy about the change and are looking forward to being a playoff contender; something that might prove to be difficult without Shaquille O’Neal who was traded to Miami.
