Dwane Casey and the Wolves

Dwane Casey who has spent the last 11 years with the Seattle Supersonics has accepted the job offer to coach the Minnesota Timberwolves. He will be taking over Kevin McHale who took the coaching job on a temporary basis after Flip Saunders was fired in mid-February. The Timberwolves failed to make the postseason this year for the first time since 1996 posting a 44-38 record.

Dwane Casey was an all-star caliber player at the University of Kentucky where he led the Wildcats to a championship in 1978. He helped coach NCAA basketball for several years before he went accepted a coaching job in Japan, after five years in Japan he joined the Sonics’ coaching staff.
