All Star Saturday
Posted on February 18th, 2006 by
I am writing this as the all star festivities end for Saturday night and there are less than 24 hours until tomorrow’s all star game. These are just some thoughts and a mini recap, I will have pictures and videos uploaded soon.
Shooting Stars
This was a pretty fun lil’ contest with a mix of nba all stars, nba legends, and wnba all stars. The Spurs pretty much finished the competition going first by setting a new record.
Skills Challenge
Aww man! I can’t believe Steve Nash lost! He just got stuck on the free throw shot, and he lost like 20 seconds there! He easily had a huge lead over everyone else in the first round. Props to Wade though, he had a decent start but he finished really strong having a perfect final round.
Three-Point Shootout
The first 7.0 foot three point shootout champion! Dirk Nowitzki! Ray Allen had an amazing first round (score of 19 which was the highest in the entire shoot out) but Nowitzki finished strong in the finals while Ray Allen went into a cold streak half way through.
Rising Stars Dunk Contest
Man this was probably the best dunk contest I have ever seen. Nate Robinson was amazing, and ended up the winner. I still think that Andre Iguodala was the best, the most consistent, and had the best dunk ever attempted in the history of the NBA. That’s right, I said it! His second dunk in the qualifying round was undescribable! First I was like; “What the heck is the thinking?”, “There’s no way he is going to make it, no chance!” But when he landed it I was pretty much speechless… If Nate Robinson got a 49/50 on his 180 in the qualifying round then Andre Iguodala should’ve gotten a 99/50. It was that good. None the less Robinson’s dunk over Spudd and his through the legs were fucken impressive. That’s My 2 cents right there, both the finalists were amazing, but Andre Iguodala should’ve come out on top.
